Numbers 1 and 4 in business

The Sun and Rahu

A spiral of digits drawn in blue and gold ink on cream paper

Workable

1 regards 4 as neutral and 4 regards 1 as a friend, so the pair is workable and one-sided. The 4 builds the system and looks to the 1 for direction; the 1 tolerates the 4's pace without quite valuing it, because Rahu works unseen and the Sun measures by what shows. In technology the 4 owns the product and the 1 owns the room, and the shape works.

  • 1 regards 4: neutral
  • 4 regards 1: friend
  • Pair grade: Workable (W)
  • Two founders on these Origin and Master numbers: composite +5, Workable

As co-founders

As co-founders, the 1 regards the 4 as neutral and the 4 regards the 1 as friend, which grades the pair Workable. Practitioners give the 1 leadership, public face, final authority and the 4 field sales, business development, technology (not finance); the pair works while each keeps to that side of the room.

Roles: 1 takes leadership, public face, final authority; 4 takes field sales, business development, technology (not finance).

As name and founder

A business name totalling to 1 for a founder whose Origin and Master numbers are 4 reads Strong; the reverse, a 4 name for a 1 founder, reads Strong. Both directions support each other, so either digit can carry the letterhead for the other.

A 1 name for a 4 founder reads Strong; A 4 name for a 1 founder reads Strong.

As phone digits

In a phone number the digits 14 and 41 both read opposed, pairs a line is respelled to avoid. Phone Line reads all nine pairs together, since one pair never decides a line.

14 reads opposed; 41 reads opposed.

What to do about it

Make the 4's adviser role explicit: the 1 decides, but the 4 is heard first on anything technical. Keep the company name off a 4 compound unless the trade is technology, SaaS or digital, where the sector lifts it; elsewhere put the name on a 5, which both befriend.

Sectors that favour both: Construction and infrastructure, Technology and IT, Manufacturing and industrial, Energy and electricals.
